In partnership with AIESEC, the HKBU School of Business’s Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS) hosted the Youth to Sustainability Summit 2024 (YS24) at the HKBU campus. The event began with the opening ceremony on 15th June, 2024, and continued with the Summit from 20th – 23rd June, 2024. This annual youth conference serves as a platform to unite high school students from diverse backgrounds, helping them unleash their leadership potential through a variety of activities designed to deepen their understanding of sustainability issues.

Dr. Aries WONG, Associate Director of the CSDS, set the tone for the Summit with his opening remarks. He emphasised the importance of engaging the younger generation in sustainability efforts, noting that initiatives like this Summit are crucial steppingstones towards a more sustainable future. Dr. WONG encouraged participants to view YS24 as the beginning, not the end, of their journey in addressing sustainability challenges.

Later that day, Dr. WONG shared his insights at the SDG Changemaker Workshop, which aims to equip delegates with practical skills to turn their ideas into actions. He delved into pressing issues such as greenhouse gas emissions and illuminated the latest trends, including internalising social costs, funding the future, and paying for sustainability.

The Summit culminated in a public showcasing exhibition on the final day, where Dr. WONG served as a judge. Delegates presented and pitched their project ideas, receiving insightful and constructive feedback from Dr. WONG. His guidance helped refine their concepts and elevate their potential, contributing significantly to the overall success of the event.
