HKBU School of Business Equips Next Generation to Lead Sustainability Change

The HKBU School of Business and the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS) proudly supported the Youth to Sustainability Summit 2025, hosted by AIESEC at the HKBU campus. Spanning five dynamic days—1st and 5th – 8th June, 2025—the Summit brought together over 100 passionate university and senior secondary school students for an engaging and impactful experience.

          

This year’s programme spotlighted three pressing pillars of sustainability: Elderly Care and Support, Tourism and Economy, and Climate Change. Participants immersed themselves in enriching field visits to NGOs and social enterprises, honed creative problem-solving skills through design thinking workshops, and drew inspiration from visionary changemakers driving real-world impact.

          

The event was officially inaugurated by Mr. Ryan MAN, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of the School, whose keynote speech invited students to tune into the heartbeat of community needs and channel innovative ideas to sustainability. He also shared success stories that embody the balance between profit, people, and the planet.

          

Dr. Aries WONG, Associate Director of the CSDS, joined the final public showcase as a judge. His insightful feedback reflected both academic rigour and a heartfelt belief in the students’ potential.

          

The CSDS Director Prof. Yuk-shing CHENG appreciates the efforts made by students to inject innovation into solutions addressing sustainability challenges. He believes it is of utmost importance to engage the younger generations — bringing in their energy, creativity, and commitment — towards building a more sustainable future for all.

          

The CSDS aims to conduct research and organise knowledge transfer activities related to the achievement of the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It focuses on how institutions, policies and practices affect the achievement of selected SDGs in global and local contexts. The CSDS also facilitates the organisation of educational activities related to sustainable development in collaboration with community partners.
